How to choose drawer box systems
GTV Axis Pro is a slim metal drawer system: two 13 mm steel sides in anthracite with full-extension runners built in, plus front and back fixings and base clips. Cut a base and a back from 16 mm board, clip them in, screw the front on and the drawer is done – the same type of drawer you get in a branded fitted kitchen, in a fraction of the time it takes to build a board box and hang it on separate runners.
Choosing a length
Kits come in 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500 and 550 mm. Measure the internal depth of your cabinet (front edge to back panel) and choose a kit at least 10 mm shorter: a 500 mm deep cabinet takes a 450 mm kit, a standard 560–570 mm kitchen base unit takes a 500 or 550 mm kit. Soft close or push to open?
Both versions are full extension with the same sides and runners. Soft close is the standard choice for kitchens with handles. Push to open is for handleless doors and drawer fronts – press the front and the drawer opens; it does not have soft close, so pair it with a flush front and a light touch.
Cutting the base and back
Both parts are 16 mm board. Base width = internal cabinet width − 75 mm; base depth = kit length − 24 mm; back panel width = internal width − 87 mm, height to suit the side (84, 116, 167 or 199 mm).
