How to choose cabinet handles
GTV kitchen and bedroom handles in the finishes fitters ask for – matt black, brushed gold, brushed steel, titanium, light graphite, copper and champagne – across bar handles and edge-mounted profile handles. Prices are per handle, screws are included, and everything is in UK stock.
Understanding the sizes
Handle sizes are written as hole centres / overall length, for example 192/200 mm: the screw holes are 192 mm apart and the handle is 200 mm long. If you are replacing handles, match the hole centres and the new handle drops into the old holes. 128, 160, 192, 256 and 320 mm centres are the common sizes; for new doors, a 192 mm or 320 mm handle suits a standard 600 mm drawer front, with two 192 mm handles on fronts over 800 mm wide.
Bar handles or profile handles?
- Bar handles (BAGIO, RAY, NYXA, IMPERIAL, OCTAVIO, VITO) screw through the door from behind on two fixings and come in the widest range of finishes. Choose by style – slim round, square, classic – and finish.
- Edge-mounted profile handles (HEXA, PILLAR, NYXA edge) screw to the top edge of a door or drawer front for a near-handleless look, with 1200 mm lengths you cut to size for tall larder doors.
Matching across a kitchen
Most ranges come in two or three centres so you can use the same style on narrow drawers and wide pan drawers. Match the finish to your taps and appliances rather than the door colour: brushed gold with navy or green, matt black with white or oak, brushed steel with grey. Matching knobs are available for cupboard doors. The drawer builder picks handles to suit your drawer widths automatically.
